The second-ranked Statesmen (45-9) claimed their 11th Gulf South Conference Championship with a 7-5 win over Montevallo (36-25) Wednesday at the GSC Tournament at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn. DSU defeated Southern Arkansas (44-10) 11-2 to advance to the title game earlier in the day. Joey Haston (8-0) earned the win for DSU.
