Matt Jones begins his fourth year as Director of Athletic Marketing and Media Relations for the Delta State University Department of Athletics. It is his seventh year overall with the program.

Jones is responsible for the overall media presence of the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen athletic programs. This includes media guide production, website development and writing of press releases. He also serves as the "Voice of the Statesmen nation" on the Statesmen Sports Radio Network.

Jones also hosts the weekly "Delta State Sports Show." The half-hour magazine-style program features player and coach interviews, highlights and much more. The program airs on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. on Greenville's WABG-TV.

Prior to taking the position of Director of Athletic Media Relations, Jones served as the director of the Statesmen Sports Network and coordinated the marketing efforts for DSU athletics.

Before moving to Delta State, Jones spent two seasons as an assistant to East Mississippi Community College CEO Dr. Ed Davis. At EMCC, Jones assisted with all facets of the Lions athletic program. From 1997 to 1999 he also served as the play-by-play voice of the University of Alabama baseball and women's basketball teams.

Jones is a 2003 graduate of Delta State University with a bachelor's degree in Social Science Education with a minor in History. He earned his master's degree in Sociology and Community Development in July of 2006.

The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native is married to the former Meg Warren of Dekalb. Meg is also a Delta State graduate with a bacherlor's degree in Business Management and Office Administration. She is currently pusuing a MBA and works at the Center for Community and Economic Development at Delta State.

Matt and Meg both volunteer with the Wesley Foundation Board and they attend First United Methodist Church in Cleveland.
