Clint Rountree Assistant Coach Clint Rountree, a former standout at the University of Tulsa, is the latest addition to the Delta State University football coaching. Rountree, who spent the 2007 season at the Colorado School of Mines, will lead the Statesmen secondary this season. The Tahlequah, Okla., native spent the 2007 season as the wide receivers coach at Colorado School of Mines for coach Bob Stitt. The Orediggers went 7-5 and competed in the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl. Rountree coached Derek Dystra to First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and National Football Foundation All-Colorado Team honors. Rountree lettered all four years at the University of Tulsa, where he played strong safety and wide receiver. Rountree led the Golden Hurricane to the 2003 Humanitarian Bowl. In 2004, his senior season, Rountree led Tulsa in sacks and tackles for loss. After graduating from Tulsa, Rountree stayed at his alma mater as both a student assistant and graduate assistant on Steve Kragthorpe’s coaching staff. In his two years as an assistant with the Golden Hurricane, they claimed the 2005 Conference USA championship in their inaugural season and participated in both the Liberty Bowl and the Armed Forces Bowl. Clint Rountree graduated in 2006 from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Sciences. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in history.
